Outback Bound

The distinctive flavors of New Zealand and Australia are the focus at South, a new restaurant and bar in San Francisco's SoMa district. Designed by local interior designer Chloe Redmond Warner, the 1,000-square-foot space is outfitted with a mosaic-tiled bar, wood pendant lamps and faux bois wallpaper. Aussie chef Luke Mangan prepares menu items including the Bushman's Plate -- a starter with curried eggplant and tempura mussels -- and main courses such as pan-roasted barramundi with tomato and lime.
