For a project in San Francisco's Pacific Heights, designer Chloe Redmond Warner chose a bright botanical fabric she wanted to use for a headboard, but rather than custom-design the entire bed frame, she found a mail-order piece that was the right shape and upholstered it. " I really wanted this pattern for this room," says Warner. "But I found that it was much less expensive to buy a ready-made headboard -- this one, for example came upholstered in a simple muslin from the Ballard Designs catalog - and have it covered. This gave me a one-of-a-kind piece in the right fabric and form, but at a much lower cost."
